Charlie Chaplin. My first stop on my film director pilgrimage.
I adore Charlie Chaplin. I am absolutely in love with him. He was, of course, extremely influential to film and filmmaking.
I remember a time when I was not really sure who he was. I could picture the mustache, the hat, the baggy clothes and the cane. I was just unsure whether he was an old cartoon character or a real person.
Finally, one a day, an English teacher, whose daughter I babysat, suggested I watch Charlie Chaplin. She knew of my growing fascination with film so she had me watch a VHS copy of “The Gold Rush” which I LOVED and the rest is history. I own his book, a great deal of DVD’s and I even dressed up like him for Halloween once. It was an award winning costume. lol
Charlie Chaplin is the best.
